Newbie Buffs
The free Buff Helper works until your first rebirth: what's in the fighter and mage sets, how to prepare for life after it, and which buffs of your own to learn before level 85.
Vela has no buffer NPC. New players get help from the Buff Helper — a free basic set for an hour, but only while your character has no rebirths. It's a tutorial: during your first climb to 85 you save up SP and adena and learn your own buffs through multiprofa. After your first rebirth, buffs are part of your build.
What's in the sets
All buffs are max level, free, for one hour.

You can also take the rest of the basic list one by one: Physical Evasion, Water, Fire and Wind resistance.
Not given for free: prophecies, Enhanced Attack / Defense, party chants, songs and dances, class stances, cat and unicorn buffs. You learn them through multiprofa or get them from other players — that way supports keep their role.
Where it doesn't work
Not in combat, at events, sieges, the Olympiad or the Arena, or with a PvP flag or karma. Step out of combat and press again.
Preparing for your first rebirth
After rebirth, the Buff Helper window will explain that buffs are now your own. To avoid a "gap", prepare in advance — by level 85 you'll have enough SP.
- Open the Library: Role: Buffs, show Learnable. Identical buffs of different classes are already merged there — one best buff per family is shown (Buffs in Multiprofa).
- Learn them in this order: Haste / Acumen → Might / Empower → Focus / Wild Magic → Shield and Magic Barrier → Wind Walk → Death Whisper, Berserker Spirit, Clarity.
- Build a scheme in Self-buff — up to 48 buffs cast with one button out of combat, honestly spending MP and going on cooldown.
- Turn on town auto buff with your scheme — Town Auto Buff.
Buff slots
24 slots at base. The rebirth bonus "Inspiration" (Codexes) adds +2 per level, up to +20, and Divine Inspiration adds another +4: up to 48 in total. Songs and dances have their own 12 slots. Details — Rebirth Books and Codices.
FAQ
Can I get the Buff Helper back after rebirth? No, that's a server rule. Buffs are yours now — learned, or from other players.
Does a mini-rebirth also turn off the Buff Helper? Only regular rebirths count. If your character has 0 of them, the Buff Helper works.
Will a buff from a friend stack with mine? No, buffs of the same type overwrite each other, as in Essence. But a support friend can give you what you don't have.
Why do buffs last an hour instead of 20 minutes? Class buffs in Vela last an hour — less routine. Short combat buffs and ultimates work as in Essence.
